The Story Girl

DOMINIQUE: I was born in a summer month and I like the smell of honey and lilacs. A small cabin nestled in meadow of white flowers and willow trees would be my ideal writing destination. Yes, writing. I do that a lot.
My favorite books: The Book Thief, Markus Zusak / The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Stephen Chbosky / The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins
My favorite films: American Beauty / The Virgin Suicides / Lost in Translation / X-Men: First Class / Fight Club / Spirited Away / Jane Eyre / Where the Wild Things Are
My favorite musical artists: The Smiths / Nirvana / Bon Iver / The XX / Beirut / Dead Man's Bones / Bombay Bicycle Club / Grizzy Bear
(I also like to make people laugh and I like talking about boys and watching crappy television on Friday nights when I have plenty of other things to be doing.)
In short, I eat words. I consume them, I bury myself in them and I stay there. I think that there is nothing more great and terrible than words. They can create and they can destroy. They can make you feel like fire is lining your skin, and they can make you feel like you are drowning. They can be beautiful and they can be destructive. But they are always, always underestimated.
One day, I'd like to share my stories with the rest of the world. I'm currently working on an untitled young adult fantasy novel that I'm having plenty of fun with. The characters are becoming my friends and they make me feel warm and fuzzy like the sun's sitting on the small of my back. I hope that they will soon make others feel what I'm feeling as I write them. If there's anything else you'd like to know about me, feel free to ask. Cheers.
